U 15 Final 2020
The U15 Division 2 Shield Final for 2020 is due to take place on Monday June 14th. The Downs opposition in this final will be Western Gaels. A home game for Western Gaels on this occasion. Further details will be circulated when confirmed.
Adult training resumed this week. We look forward to the next lifting of restrictions on June 7th where games will be permitted but must be played “behind closed doors”. Indoor facilities must remain closed.
Underage training continues every Friday night. Don’t worry if you haven’t already made it back yet. We will be here every Friday for the foreseeable future. Three items needed: The Covid 19 Club Education eLearning Modulehttps://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/, The Health Questionnaire which must be completed each time your child attends training at https://returntoplay.gaa.ie and Club Membership. Membership for 2021 for both The Downs GAA Club and the LGFA is now just at the click of a button. All you have to do is visit our website www.thedownsgaa.com and click membership. You will then be re-directed to our brand new Clubforce account which has all our membership details and links.
The club shop continues to be open on Friday evenings. Club gear is available for sale in an outdoor capacity from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Teas/coffee are available in the Cuppa hut which is open for your convenience on Friday evenings from 6.30pm – 7.30pm during underage training. The wonderful volunteers on duty will also help with the Collection of Bingo books and purchase of lotto tickets at the same location. Community spirit is alive and well in this location of the grounds and you can catch up with all the local events over a cup of tea/coffee while the kids are training.

We were joined by large numbers of regular and new players again for Friday night’s online bingo. Our new weekly game format and increased prize fund of €2,200 is proving very popular with players. An hours entertainment and fun was had by all. Congratulations to our largest number of 25 prize winners yet, who enjoyed sharing a record €1920 prize fund. Mary Newman was our €600 jackpot winner in our Big Game 5. Mary, one of our regular players, was both shocked and delighted with her jackpot win. Full house in our new Double & Check Game 3 was checked in 54 numbers resulting in a prize of €200 for Noreen McNamee. Noreen, joined us from Castlebar, and was playing our online bingo for the 1st time. The Downs GAA would like to express their sincere sympathy to Catherine and Ray Smyth, their children and the extended O’Brien family on the very sad passing of Catherine’s father John O’Brien late of Millmount Mullingar this week. We also extend our sympathy to local business owner John Gavin and Margaret on the sad passing of Margaret’s mother Patricia Doyle late of Arthur Griffith Park, Lucan Dublin formerly of Bracklyn, Mullingar. We also express our condolences to the same family on the death of John’s brother-in-law Gerry Gallagher late of Bonley West Sussex, England. Our thoughts and prayers are with both families at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Ladies Club LGFA
Two Fundamental Coaching Courses have been arranged for The Downs Ladies Club Coaches. As it is an LGFA requirement we encourage all coaches to complete this course. Spaces on the course are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The first course will be Saturday 29th May 2021 and Saturday 5th June 2021 from 7-9pm. If you are interested in attending this course, please contact any member of the Ladies Committee.
The very popular Cúl Camp is returning to the Downs GAA Club from July 12th – 16th. Bookings can be made @kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
