Quid Games
Last Sunday night October 29th Westmeath County Board hosted their major fundraiser “The Quid Games” in The Park Hotel. A great night was had by all. The Downs GAA Club were represented by clubman Jasper Rijksen. We thank Jasper for his participation and time on this event. Forty-seven clubs from Westmeath participated in some fun games on the night –Congratulations to Shandonagh GAA the winning club who took away a whopping €10,000.
Trunk or Treat
Congratulations to the committee of The Downs Playground group who held their Halloween fundraising event last Sunday evening October 29th. Having repeated the same event last year this year was even bigger and better if possible. The rain managed to stay away this time making the trick or treating very enjoyable!! The event received rave reviews from all who attended yet again. The festivities kicked off at 4.30 p.m. at The Downs GAA Club with prizes awarded for best carved pumpkin, spookiest car and best Halloween costumes from children and adults as well as some superb raffle prizes. Attendees parked and spooked up their cars wonderfully with trick or treating taking place from car to car followed by the screening of a scary movie. Another addition this year was “The House of Horrors” which was a firm favourite for all that attended even if it was seriously scary!! Winter Programme for Nursery Kids
The Downs GAA & LGFA clubs will be running a Winter Nursery for kids in The Downs hall starting next Sat 4th Nov from 11am to 12 noon. This will be on every 2 weeks in The Downs hall up to Christmas. Venue may change in New Year. All are welcome, members and non-members. Dates after Christmas to be confirmed
No fee charged. See you all then.
Strength & Conditioning
Strength & conditioning classes resume in the clubhouse with Mickey-Dan Murtagh on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30-8-30 p.m. Beginning on October 3rd at a cost of €10 per session – all welcome.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to Catherine & Cian Sheerin as well as the extended Sheerin family on the sad passing of Catherine’s mother Kathleen late of Cullionbeg, Mullingar earlier this week.
