Underage Results
With most of the fixtures postponed due to the inclement weather over the last week one that did go ahead was our under 16’s who earned themselves a hard fought win over Tubberclair in Round 3 of the league away last Saturday evening. Well done to all involved. The lads are in action in Round 4 on Monday evening April 15th at home versus St. Lomans at 6.45. All support welcome.
Both Black and Amber U12 squads were in action over the weekend. All Friday night’s fixtures were cancelled due to water-logged pitches however Sunday’s fixtures went ahead. The Black team put in a brilliant performance against a very strong Tubberclair side away from home with The Downs just about tipping the scales in this encounter. Our Amber team weren’t so lucky coming up against a very slick St. Lomans team in Lakepoint Park on the same day. Special mention to to five of our players who togged out for both squads on the same day aswell as five of our U10’s all performing heroically for their club. Many thanks to players, parents and coaches.
LGFA Results
Our U12 girls were in action on Thursday evening in Lakepoint Park last with two teams togging out and representing The Downs with distinction. Well done to all involved.
Scór Sinsir
Congratulations to the Scór Sinsir Rince Foirne who made it through to the Leinster final after a fantastic performance in Birr last Saturday evening. The Leinster final takes place at home in The Downs on April 21st. The group are coached by Geraldine Dagg and George Coyle. Rince Foirne: Katie McGrath, Neasa Mangan Lynch, Rebecca Kelly, Amy Dagg, Erica Hynes, Orla Geraghty, Emma Dagg Robin Dagg and Ciara Smith.
On a separate note: Many thanks to all that supported Scór Na Dúnta fundraiser sweepstake on the Aintree Grand National. Best of luck to all entries.
Congratulations
Many congratulations to our LGFA players that won a Division 2 Camogie National League in Croke Park last Sunday. The Downs representatives included: Holly Dowdall, Aisling Egerton, Sheila McGrath, Meadhb Scally, Roisín Scally, Olivia Glynn and Megan Dowdall who earned herself the Player of the Match accolade for her 2-03 contribution on the day.
Gaelic4Mothers&Others
Na Dúnta G4M&O are back in action every Wednesday night. Anyone from the area looking for a bit of fun as well as a bit of exercise are all welcome. This programme has been a huge success for the club. Please contact Martha on 0871427400 for any further inquiries.
