THE DOWNS GAA NOTES June 17th 2024
ACFL Results
The Division 1 side finished out the league on Friday evening with a win over our near neighbours Milltownpass concluding Division 1 for 2023. Final score: The Downs 1-17 Milltownpass 1-11
Underage Results
The U14 Division 4 side qualified for the league final this week with a hard fought win against a determined Athlone side on Friday evening in Athlone. Despite an under par performance the lads just about did enough to claim all points on offer with a league final against Tyrellspass next Wednesday 19th in Tyrellspass at 7 p.m. All support welcome.
LGFA Results
Our U14 Division team had a tough battle against St. Lomans in the league this week. Despite a tenacious performance by our girls, St. Lomans managed to get more scores on the sore-board when the final whistle blew unfortunately leaving us on the wrong side of the tie. Final Score: 2-07 to 2-04 in favour of St. Lomans.
The U8 and U10 girls were in Killucan on Saturday morning for the latest round of Go-Games. A great morning of football with some fantastic evenly contested matches between both sides on display. Many thanks to Killucan for being wonderful hosts.
The Downs Community Fun Day
The Downs GAA will be the place to be next Sunday June 23rd when the club hosts their fun day with something to do for for all the family. With events kicking off at 2 p.m. there will be something for everyone. We would like to see all club members on the day and many thanks to Paddy Kenny and his team for all their hard work in organising.
