Excitement is building here in The Downs with the Scór na nÓg All Ireland final in just one more week. The All Ireland takes place in the Hillgrove Hotel Co. Monaghan on January 25th. And with four The Downs competing in four finals we almost can’t contain our excitement. All groups are busy practicing and preparing for their big night in 2 weeks’ time. The Downs will compete in the Tráth na gCeist, Nuachlas, Rince Seit and Aithriseoireacht. We wish all the participants and their coaches every best wish in the weeks ahead with their preparation and encourage them to enjoy the experience.

The Downs Dragons initiative returned for 4-6 year old boys and girls last Saturday and what a success it was. Great fun was had by all with many skills being practiced at the same time. Many thanks to all the volunteers for giving their time to roll out this very popular initiative. Indoor training for the Downs Dragons continues every 2nd Saturday at 12 p.m. in the clubhouse. New members always welcome. Next date for the diary is Saturday Feb 1st. Free jersey on registration for new members.

Couch to 5k / Valentines Run. Looking for some motivation for the new year? We are delighted to announce that our couch to 5k is back this year. Starting Monday 6th Jan at 7:30pm at the Downs GAA Club. The initiative will run every Monday with our fantastic running coach Criona, and will lead up to our annual Valentines 5k/10k fundraiser on 16th February. All you need is runners, water and a smile.
