ACFL League Fixtures Round 5 2025

Tuesday April 1st: Division 3 The Downs V Bunbrosna (Home) 8 pm

Sunday April 6th: Division 1 The Downs V Shandonagh (Home) 11.30 am

Sunday April 6th: Division 6 The Downs V Tang (Away) 11.30 am

Round 4 Men’s ACFL Results

The Division 1 side suffered their first defeat of the league on Tuesday night last against our near neighbours Corlastown Kinnegad. It was all square at half time at 1-06 apiece curtesy of a Phillip Martin goal. The Downs were ahead by two points heading into the last quarter of the game however Corlastown Kinnegad showed great fighting spirit to edge out their opponents by a margin of two points despite The Downs best efforts. Final score The Downs 1-12 to Corlastown Kinnegad 1-14. 

Underage Results

Both U14 teams kick-started their season with wins in the first round of the league. The Division 1 side took on St. Lomans at home. Following a very competitive game The Downs earned themselves a good win on a score-line of 3-10 to 2-07.

The Division 5 side had a comprehensive win away from home against St. Paul’s in Clonmellon on Wednesday evening also. Well done to both squads.

The minors had a tough outing against Mullingar Shamrocks at home last Friday night losing out comprehensively to the town team. 

LGFA Results 

The Division 3 side had a tough assignment on Friday evening against a very strong St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge side with the visitors coming out on top. St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge 4-12 The Downs 1-04

The Division 1 side were also at home on Sunday morning and on this occasion The Downs came out the right side of a very competitive game. Final score: The Downs 3-08 St. Lomans 1-04

Underage Football Friday Evenings

Underage football continues every Friday from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. in The Downs GAA for girls and boys. New members are always welcome.

Scór Sinsir

The Scór Sinsir Leinster Final takes place on April 6th in The Downs. Best of luck to Na Dúnta Rince Seit & Rince Foirne who both qualified for The Leinster Final

Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others

Na Dúnta Gaelic 4 mothers & other's starts back March 19th from 8-9pm and every Wednesday (back middle pitch). No experience required, all fitness levels welcomed. Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30 p.m. All new members welcome.
