O’Byrne Cup
The O’Byrne Cup second round against Wexford was hosted in The Downs GAA Club last Saturday afternoon. The club are very proud to be in a position to host such events and praise must go to all the volunteers of the club that made the undertaking seamless. The pitch and facilities were in fantastic order thanks again to all that were involved in the process. Well done to Kevin O’Sullivan, Johnathan Lynam and Trevor Martin who represented The Downs on the day. Congratulations to Dessie Dolan and his backroom team on a convincing win against their Wexford counterparts.
Dinner Dance and Medal Presentation
After a very successful year on the playing field, it’s time to celebrate!! We are delighted to announce that we are having our dinner dance and medal presentation in The Bloomfield House Hotel on February 11th, so keep the date free!! Further details will be confirmed at a later date.
Calendar 2023
Our Club Calendar for 2023 is still available. We extend our gratitude to all our sponsors for their continued generosity and support in this venture. Calendars can be purchased for €3 each or €5 for two at the following locations: Mullingar Pewter, A&J Newsagents Coralstown, Daly’s Barbers Austin Friar’s Street, Mullingar and Egan’s Service Station Rathconnell while stocks last.
LGFA Valentines Run
Back by popular demand for 2023!!! For those of you that are looking to work off some of that Christmas dinner, The Downs Ladies LGFA are having a 5k & 10k run in early February. So dust off the runners and tracksuit bottoms and get training to take part and support the ladies club. Keep an eye on our social media platforms over the next few days where details will be confirmed.

The Downs GAA club extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Colm Murray as well as all the members of Coralstown/Kinnegad and Raharney Hurling Club. We offer our sincere condolences to all those who are in mourning at this sad time. Colm’s loss has been felt deeply throughout the GAA community and we offer our support, thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this difficult time.
We also offer our condolences to the family of Michael Caffrey, Winetown, Fore, Castlepollard on his recent passing.
