AIB Leinster Club SFC Quarter Finals 2025

Unfortunately our senior men bowed out of the Leinster championship last Sunday following an uncharacteristically flat performance in TEG Cusack Park. The Downs found it difficult to gather any momentum throughout the game. The Downs first goal came in the early stages of the first half through Lorcan Mullen although Tullamore responded with six points and crucially a goal just on the half-time whistle leaving the half-time score at 1-02 to 1-08. Tullamore were relentless in the third quarter and after 24 minutes the scoreboard read 3-04 to 3-12. However with five minutes to go after a late flurry by The Downs they found themselves only 2 points adrift, however it wasn’t to be and Tullamore held on to book their place in the Leinster semi-final. Final score The Downs 4-06 Tullamore 3-13. Hard luck to The Downs men will be disappointed with the result following a strong Westmeath championship campaign. Many thanks to Dermot Power and his management team on a very successful year but today was not our day unfortunately.

Junior B Win

Congrats to the Junior B lads on Friday evening last with a win at home against Delvin on a score-line of The Downs 4-16 to Delvin’s 1-09

Scór na nÓg

The Scór na nÓg County Final took place in the Downs this Saturday evening after a record number of entries in this year's competition. The Downs quiz team were first up and reached the final 3 however Ballingore hung on to their lead to take the title.
Our Rince Foirne team were up against St Joseph's and 2 St. Lomans teams on the night. They put in a fine performance but congratulations to St. Lomans who took the honours. Luke Kenna did us proud with his singing in the Amhránaíocht competition,  however Darragh McCabe ,last years All Ireland finalist won out on the night. Our Set Dancers faced stiff competition this year with Bunbrosna all girls set winning out on the night. This group of dancers have done us proud for many years here at Na Dúnta. Pride of place however goes to our Nuachleas act, who's hilarious "Una's Plan" won the County title. The Novelty Act will progress to the Leinster Semi Final in the Downs next Sunday at 2pm. Well done to all who represented the club and the very best of luck to all the county champions representing Westmeath in the Leinster Semi Final.
