The Downs Ladies Valentines 5k 10k run takes place this Sun 15th Feb at 11am.  The event is a flat fast road race, starting at The Downs and traversing the peaceful country roads around The Downs. It has become a popular event in the past few year, particularly with those training for the AON Mullingar Half Marathon. Chipped timing and refreshments. Category prizes. Family friendly event. We extend our heartiest congratulations to the Coláiste Mhuire senior football team as well as their teachers/coaches on historically winninging back to back Br. Bosco Leinster A titles last Saturday afternoon in TEG Cusack Park against their Westmeath counterparts Marist, Athlone. We are immensely proud of our representatives on the panel. Michael Moloney, Cian Loughlin, Conor Cleary, Pádraig Monaghan, Eoin Mullin, Eoghan Daly and Aaron Connnaire.They have made everyone here in The Downs incredibly proud and wish them all every success in their upcoming All-Ireland semi-final.

The Downs Dragons

The Downs Dragons are back in action. Many thanks to all the volunteers for making it such a great success. The Dragons are completing a nursery programme in the hall for all children aged 3-6 every Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This will be an introduction to football in a fun, family friendly environment. All new members welcome.  

The Downs GAA would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the Kiernan family on the sad passing of Maurice Kiernan, late of Coralstown, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath. Maurice was a member of the 1958 Comórtas na mBunscol winning team.
