THE DOWNS GAA NOTES

U 14 League Final

Unfortunately our U14’s came out second best to St. Lomans in the U14 Division 1 final last Wednesday evening. The lads did very well to make up a six point half time deficit to lead by 1 coming down the straight. St. Loman’s finished the stronger and won the game by a margin of 4 points. Hard luck to the panel and their management team.

G4M&O North Leinster Blitz

What a fantastic day at Breedon Molloy Park for the G4M&O North Leinster blitz last Saturday. Huge thanks to everyone that helped on the day. Almost forty teams participated in a brilliant day of football and fun – everything that the G4M&O represents. Thanks to Olly Gallagher for the photographs

U14 LGFA

Well done to our U14 D1 & D4 teams who both played Mullingar Shamrocks this week in both divisions. Our D4 girls were in the Downs on Tuesday evening and after a very close first half, pulled away in the second half to come away with a decisive win. Thursday was a similar affair, with Shamrocks opening strongly in the first half of the D1 fixture in the Harbour Field. The Downs hit a purple patch in the run into half time and continued strongly into the 2nd half. Shamrocks were never going to give up easily and fought hard to the close coming close to closing the gap. It wouldn't be enough to catch the black and ambers however and the Downs ran out winners in the end. It's all to play for in both these highly competitive leagues at the moment.

Westmeath Rose

We were very proud to have club member Orlaith Murray representing The Downs in the Westmeath Rose competition this week. A proud member of The Downs GAA Club, Orlaith has been involved in Scór since the age of four and now enjoys mentoring the next generation through junior Scór. Camogie with Clonkill.
We also had another club link with Caoimhe Colgan who was sponsored by TEG on the night. Well done to both ladies.
