The Div 1 ladies faced an up and coming Garrycastle side in Round 7 of the league last Sunday morning in the Downs in a must win game for a place in the league final. Na Dúnta started strong with two early goals from Francesca Walsh & Olivia Glynn giving an early lead. Garrycastle pointed and then tested Ellen Taite in the goals before pointing from a free after advantage was given. The Black & Ambers kicked on from there with scores from Olivia, Ciara Dolan, Cara Finnegan, Michelle Bohan and Britney McNamee bringing the home tally to 2-07 at half time. Garrycastle hit the net just before the close of the half to bring their HT tally to 1-04. 

The second half saw the Downs remain dominant, with fantastic work rate all over the pitch. Francesca and Beth McGuire hit the net again for Na Dúnt   and more names were added to the score sheet including a great score from Aisling Egerton and scores from Ciara Faulkner & Niamh Keogh. The final score Na Dúnta 4-15 Garrycastle 1-7.

Congratulations to the ladies and their management who earn a well-deserved place in the league final in 2 weeks time.

 

Our Division 5 girls unfortunately suffered a comprehensive loss to our near neighbours Milltownpass. 

The Downs GAA extends their sincere sympathy to the Hunt family on the recent passing of James (Seamus) Hunt late of Lynn Road, Mullingar.

We also send our condolences to the Kerrigan family on the passing of Michael Kerrrigan, late of Newdown, The Downs, Mullingar.
